Our Mould Removal Process
Mould Masters, in combination with Goldmorr use a 5 part mould removal process.
It’s fast, safe and effective!
HomeAt Mould Masters, our 5-step system is designed not just to remove mould, but to eliminate the conditions that allow mould to return. While many companies focus only on wiping the visible growth, our approach addresses moisture, air quality, and long-term prevention. This is why homeowners, landlords, and property managers across Wellington trust us for reliable, lasting results.
Every home is different, every moisture problem has a cause, and every mould outbreak requires a tailored plan. This process shows exactly how we diagnose, treat, eliminate, and prevent mould safely and efficiently. We provide fast, safe and effective mould removal in Wellington using our proven process.
Learn About Our 5 Step System Below
Step 1 - Free Quote
Along with your free estimate, we also gather key information about your property so we can assess the likely cause of the mould even before arriving. Factors such as the age of the home, insulation type, window construction, ventilation, and heating systems all play a role in mould formation.
For more complex situations — such as widespread ceiling mould, musty odours, recurring bathroom mould, or homes recently affected by flooding — a site visit gives us a clearer overview. During the visit we look for patterns, moisture traps, cold spots, and visible indicators that help us identify the root cause early.
This upfront preparation means when we arrive for the full service, we can treat the mould faster and with better results.

Step 2 - Mould Assessment
Our assessment is one of the most important parts of the entire process. Most mould issues are caused by a hidden moisture source — and without addressing that, mould will always return.
During the assessment we check:
Moisture content inside walls and ceilings
Humidity levels inside the home
Cold bridging (common in older Wellington homes)
Window condensation patterns
Airflow and ventilation
Signs of leaks or historic water damage
Carpet backing and underlay conditions
Mould spread behind furniture or appliances
This step allows us to diagnose the root of the mould problem, not just the visible growth. After the inspection, you’ll know exactly why the mould developed, how severe the issue is, and what steps we will take to eliminate it permanently.
If the initial quote needs adjusting (for example if we discover unseen mould behind furniture or in multiple rooms), this is the stage where we will confirm that with you.
Step 3 - Visible Mould Removal
Black Mould Removal WellingtonGM6000 removes the visible mould safely without damaging paintwork or surfaces. While many DIY products simply bleach mould, they don’t penetrate deeply enough to stop regrowth. GM6000 is designed specifically for mould remediation and has a far higher effectiveness rate than standard cleaners.
During this step we also:
Protect nearby surfaces
Remove mould from corners, trims, and joins
Treat hard-to-reach ceiling and wall areas
Wipe down contaminated surfaces
Capture residue safely so spores don’t spread
This step leaves your walls, ceilings, and surfaces visibly clean — but this is only half the battle. Invisible mould spores still remain in the air, which is why Step 4 is essential. GM6000 is highly effective for difficult outbreaks, especially during black mould removal jobs

Step 4 - Fogging
Fogging reaches where manual cleaning cannot. Mould spores are microscopic and easily spread throughout the home through airflow, clothing, pets, and ventilation. GM2000 fogging saturates the air and surfaces with a safe, biodegradable mist that eliminates these airborne spores.
Fogging ensures:
Every room receives full coverage
Spores are neutralised, not just relocated
Hidden contamination inside wardrobes, cupboards, and crevices is treated
Cross-contamination between rooms is prevented
Future mould colony formation is significantly reduced
This step is what makes our treatment long-lasting compared to standard “wipe-only” services.
Step 5 - Air Quality Testing & Mould Management Plan
Air quality testing provides proof that the mould spores have been eliminated, not just cleaned visually. This adds an extra level of certainty for homeowners and property managers. This is especially useful in homes battling recurring bathroom issues, where bathroom mould removal is often required.
Our management plan may include recommendations such as:
Improving ventilation
Reducing humidity
Heat pump settings
Window condensation solutions
Use of dehumidifiers
Furniture placement to prevent cold spots
Prevention tips tailored to Wellington’s climate
Our goal is not just to remove the mould — it’s to make sure it doesn’t return.
